From hosting our very first Webinar with over 550 viewers, being selected as a global finalist of the world’s largest startup competition, to initiating a movement to ensure the most vulnerable protected during this pandemic — let’s delve further! :)
Extreme Tech Challenge 2020 Global Finalist
Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) hosts the world’s largest startup competition for entrepreneurs addressing global challenges with over 2,4000 startups from 87 countries competing. The program looks to showcase innovators harnessing the power of technology to address great challenges facing humanity. We are thrilled to be selected as part of this year’s XTC 2020 top global finalists!
As part of the global finalists, we were invited to join a Bootcamp throughout the month of June. We had the amazing opportunity to be coached by internet legend and Yahoo! Co-Founder Jerry Yang, President of Samsung Young Sohn, and renowned global investor and blockchain advocate Tim Draper — just to name a few! We can’t wait to use this new-found knowledge from the classes to bring HARA to the next level.
Field Update: First Pilot of Danamas Loan Program
We are proud to announce that our first complete financing-cycle pilot with Danamas has been successful! In January 2020, we disbursed financing with Danamas to our HARA farmers in Tuban, East Java. With the working capital already secured prior to the pandemic, these farmers were able to purchase necessary farm inputs, continue with their farming activities, and harvest right on time!
Peduli Pangan Desa Kota
One of the biggest problems caused by a pandemic is food security. Where the food supply chain is negatively impacted. We are very grateful to collaborate with likeminded private companies and NGOs, connecting players in the supply chain, to create the initiative Peduli Pangan: Desa Kota. We do this by sourcing food products from local farmers, opening Soup Kitchens ran by volunteers, to supply food to the most vulnerable groups. To date, the Peduli Pangan initiative has impacted over 3,000+ people in Jakarta.

“Will Blockchain Revolutionize the Halal Industry?” Webinar
We held our first webinar event “Will Blockchain Revolutionize the Halal Industry?” on June 25. Aiming to share and educate the public audience on how businesses can benefit from the implementation of blockchain technology, one of the use cases from the discussion is about the implementation of the blockchain in the business process of PT Sierad Produce Tbk and its decision to be more transparent to the public with its Halal Traceability System.
The discussion was moderated by Yos Ginting (Chair KADIN International Trade) with speakers such as Afdhal Aliasar (Director of Komite Nasional Ekonomi dan Keuangan Syariah), Oham Dunggio (Chairman of Asosiasi Blockchain Indonesia), Dicky Saelan (Director of PT Sierad Produce), and Imron Zuhri (CTO HARA). The event illustrates the audience on introduction to Blockchain and how it can ensure the integrity of a halal process in a production (Halal Value Chain). With over 550 viewers participants joined through Zoom and Youtube live, the event was a success and we hope we could host another discussion soon!
“Localizing SDG 2 and Encouraging Young Entrepreneurs to Enter Agri-food Social Business” Webinar
Together, the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN), Indonesian Professor Association (API), and Andalas University, hosted a Webinar to discuss various aspects of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) #2 — Zero Hunger, and empowering young entrepreneurs in the context of agri-food social businesses. Our COO, Larissa Sidarto, was invited as one of the speakers to share her experience working at HARA and how it is an excellent opportunity for millennials pursuing their businesses in the agriculture sector.
“What & How the Challenges and Opportunities of IoT-Blockchain” Webinar
Our CTO, Imron Zuhri and Blockchain Engineer, Juwita Winadwiastuti, were invited to be the keynote speakers at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah’s webinar session “Blockchain and IoT Trends in Indonesia” on June 26. The discussion with over 200 participants explained how Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) work since they’re still in a grey area on the implementation and impact in Indonesia. “First, identify your problem — define the boundaries, causes and effects, whether you need Blockchain and IoT to solve that. Don’t jump to the conclusion, some problems can be solved with much simpler technologies.”, said Juwita during the discussion.
Peduli Belajar Webinar Festival
Ali Abidin, a social entrepreneur was the founder of I’m On My Way, hosted the “Peduli Belajar Webinar Festival” in May where he invites entrepreneurs, activists, and artists to share insights and creative ideas. Our very own Regi Wahyu (CEO) was invited to co-host one of the sessions themed “Leading in the time of Covid-19”. He discussed as a leader, the ability to change and reinvent is a must to adapt in the current situation where things are changing quickly.
